At the time
of painting this twisted driftwood had obviously sat here, between the low and high
tide levels, for some while as the growth of fine seaweed shows.
The dining room of The Crane Hotel sits atop the cliff in the
background and the black strip you can see in the painting is the substantial
undercut beneath that cliff.
One day, perhaps - just not while I'm having lunch!
